St. Gabriel students have the opportunity to learn and develop musical skills and knowledge in our two after school choirs. They can also practice their athletic skills in a well-organized athletic program. St. Gabriel School participates in the Kansas City-St. Joseph Diocesan league for football, cross country, boys' and girls basketball, girls volleyball, and track. The teams begin in 3rd or 4th grade and are coached by parents. Team practices are scheduled in our school gym during evening hours. Our sports programs not only engage the child in learning coordination, athletic skills and rules of play, but also promote physical fitness, equal participation, team work and school spirit.
In addition to Girl and Boy Scouts, the students are provided the opportunity to participate in a middle-school youth group. Additionally, service projects are integrated into the school calendar, such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Math-a-thon, Hoops for Hearts, and food, clothing, and toy drives for local assistance programs.
